amazing race asia season 3: henry & bernie is eliminated

after 8 legs of intense racing, the malaysian brother and sister team of henry and bernie was eliminated from the race of the amazing race asia season 3. the elimination leg came after 2 pre-determined non-elimination legs where ida & tania, also of malaysia, escaped being eliminated both times.

here is the summary of tasks in this eighth leg of the race:

order of departure: geoff & tisha (phi), sam & vince (hk), ad & fuzzie (sing), henry & bernie (mal) and ida & tania (mal); about a 4 hour difference between the first and last team

> at pit stop: teams were instructed to go to the ruins of st. paul, a unesco world heritage site to retrieve next clue

> at st paul's ruins: teams were instructed to proceed to the entrance of macau tower, where they did the climbing task roadblock in the previous leg

> at macau tower: roadblock: one of the team members will bungee jump 233 meters off macau tower, the highest bungee jump in the whole world according to the guiness book of world records. team members who did the roadblock: (in order) tisha, sam, ad, bernie and tania

> after the roadblock: teams need to catch a ferry to go back to hongkong and proceed to maskargo warehouse to search for a parcel addressed to them, open it and read the letters inside before they receive their next clue. for the first team that finished the roadblock, caltex provided a helicopter ride to hongkong which gives them a headstart, which was won by geoff & tisha

> at maskargo warehouse: after reading letters from home (where almost everyone cried), teams were instructed to proceed to a temple in cochin, india for their next clue. flight taken by teams: first flight: geoff & tisha (hk - singapore - cochin); second flight: ad & fuzzie and ida & tania (hk - bombay - cochin); third flight: henry & bernie and sam & vince (hk - singapore - bombay - cochin) - note that these 2 teams missed their connecting flight to cochin so they have to go to the domestic airport to catch a new flight

> at the temple: teams need to be blessed in the temple before receiving their next clue. hours of operation: 6am to 10pm - geoff & tisha arrived at the temple at 10:30pm, so they stayed in the hotel for the night. ida & tania and ad & fuzie arrived at the temple at 4:30am, and stayed there until opening; getting in front of geoff & tisha

> after getting blessed: teams will proceed to kumbalam and wash an elephant

> at kumbalam: teams encountered a detour: in fish, teams need to deliver 6 large swordfishes to a restaurant. in fill, teams need to finish an intricate column design on the floor using colored rice. how the teams choose tasks: fish was done by geoff & tisha and sam & vince, fill was done by ida & tania, ad & fuzzie and henry & bernie; the faster task proved to be fish

> after the detour: teams will proceed to the next pitstop, the bolgatty palace at cochin

order of arrival at pitstop:

1st: geoff & tisha (philippines)

2nd: ad & fuzzie (singapore)

3rd: ida & tania (malaysia)

4th: sam & vince (hongkong)

5th: henry & bernie (malaysia) - eliminated

for winning the race, geoff & tisha won a trip to hongkong and USD1,000. actually, ida & tania arrived 2nd at the pitstop but they have a 30 minute penalty since they did not arrive first at the pitstop, the consequence of the non-elimination leg. ad & fuzzie caught up with them and checked in 2nd.

pinoy fear factor: 2 more participantes revealed

after 8 participantes has been revealed in the past 3 days, a couple more of the prticipantes of the much anticipated pinoy fear factor was revealed last night in the station's nightly news, tv patrol world. the two participantes are kargador dad rj calipus, jr and businessman manuel chua, jr.

bernabe "rj" calipus jr was born to a filipina mom and a french dad. but he never met his father. he grew up in tondo where he learned to be street smart. he became a father at the age of 17. having finished only up to second year high school, he got any job available to feed his family. prior joinin the show, this 20 year old father of 2 worked as a porter and kargador at divisoria. he also attends automotive classes at night.

business manuel chua jr. had a been a speed junkie and a womanizer before he met his partner who is a lawyer. they now has a 4 year old daugher. after they had his daughter, he let go of his vices and promised to be a good provider for his family. he currently runs an appliance store that he inherited from his father. they now have 36 branches in luzon then but after his father died due to liver cirrhosis, they were left with only 3 stores.

only 2 more participantes will be revealed tonight and the 12 participantes are complete.

survivor philippines: zita wins first individual immunity challenge

the oldest member of the merged tribe chalam became the first individual immunity challenge winner of survivor philippines. zita, tha laudrywoman and naak tribe's mother won the challenge by a wide margin over much youger cast aways.

the challenge is a 2 stage challenge. in the first stage, the cast aways will run from the starting point to the enclosure. they must dig into the sand to get into the enclosure. first 5 cast aways to complete this and step into the mat will advance to the next stage. the cast aways were quite even in this stage, with jace, jc, zita, charisse and veronica advancing to the second stage. marlon got stuck under the fence since the hole he dug was too small. kiko choose the wrong spot to dig. cris's leg got stuck while kaye and rob were not even visible in the challenge.

in the second stage, the survivor would again dig a hole to get into the next enclosure where sticks and ropes are scattered. they need to build a pole long enough to reach the key to the shackles that they are wearing in their wrists. once they unlock the shackles, they would again dig to the next enclosure where they need to cross the maze and run to the finish mat. first person to step on the mat wins individual immunity.

jc, jace and zita were the first one to enter the 2nd enclosure. charisse soon followed. jc and zita were the first ones to try reaching for the key. zita was the successful one. veronica only entered the enclosure after zita reached the key. zita was able to unlock the shackles and from then on, never looked back and eventually won the challenge.

zita is assured of at least 4 more days in the island. who will be voted out next? will naak continue to stick together? will jarakay be able to stir things up? will they vote for the physical threat or the weakest link? tribal council is coming this friday. who will be the first jury member?

pinoy fear factor: 3 more participantes revealed

three more participantes of the much awaited pinoy fear factor were revealed last night during the station's nightly news, tv patrol world. the three are veterrinarian elmer felix, ms. body beautiful gail nicolas and model jommy teotico.

elmer felix is a 25 year old veterinarian from pampanga. he had a hard time passing the board exams and even failed twice. he got his license at his third try at the board exams. aside from being a licensed veterinarian, he is also a medical representative. his competitive spirit and perseverance might win him the game.

gail nicolas is a 25 yer old model and tv actress. she won the 2007 mossimo bikini summit. she was formemrly a member of the volleyball team of the university of santo tomas during college. she is the breadwinner of his family and is supporting her brother's schooling. she was one no. 63 in top 100 sexiest of fhm philippines. some says that she looks like gma 7's marian rivera. she is currently in the cast of tv 5's rakista, which is top billed by carlo aquino.

jommy teotico is a 24 year old model from manila. he grew up in the streets in manila and was a funny guy. he was a playboy until such time that he was framed up. after a drinking spree, he woke up in bed with a married woman. ha was beaten almost to death. having a chance at second life, he lives life to the fullest, and he was lucky to be in this new reality show.

survivor philippines: episode 32 - scheming and beer drinking

some observations on episode 32 of survivor philippines:

> marlon is making a move to impress naak and make them not vote for him. this is a good move for him. being in a new environment. you must first observe and adjust to the dynamics of the new group. but he is maintaining his alliance with the former jarakay members, which he also needs to stay in the game.

> marlon is not the only one slowing down. charisse was not shown strategizing at all. hmmm... good thinking... but she needs to go back to playing the game since they have the disadvantage in numbers and marlon can drop her any time.

> jace is definitely stepping up his game. he is the one planning for jarakay. he ultimately believes that jc is on his side. he trusts him too much. since naak is seeing him planning and scheming for jarakay, he puts himself very vulnerable to the vote. he is not only a physical threat but also a game threat.

> naak seems to be sticking together... all of them are telling each other what jarakay is telling them. but this game has only 1 winner, 6 persons cannot win the game. hope some of them realizes this. until when will they stick together?

> jc is pissed off that jace thinks that jarakay can get him. he must be flattered that jace is trusting him too much. he is also telling naak what jace has told him. hmmm... jc is blindsiding jace, he is now playing the game to his advantage. but he must remember that the ones he is dealing with right now are the same persons that would determine the sole survivor. his betrayal may lose his 4 votes, if all jarakay members will be voted off.

pinoy fear factor again revealed 3 of the participantes in the show as reported by abs cbn's night news tv opatrol world. they are basketball hunk ram sagad, funny austrian marion dela cruz and host janna dominguez.

sylvester "ram" sagad was named after sylvester stallone. his nickname was also a shortcut of stallone's hit movie, "rambo." he previously won the 2007 century tuna supebods beachfest and has appeared in secveral commercials. he is a basketball player for san sebastian recolletos golden stags. his teammates include another reality tv show star jc tiuseco of survivor philippines.

marion dela cruz hals from tarlac but grew up in vienna, austria. his father is a driver at the embassy while his mother is a cleaning lady at another embassy. even though he grew up there, he was raised with filipino values and speaks tagalog. he was a soccer player but got into vices early. he was involved in fights due to racism issues so his parents decided to have him back here in the philippines to live with his grandmother.

janna dominguez is a stand up comedian from quezon city. she is currently a sales agent for glutathione. her biological mother left them and now lives in japan. her father married a 25 year old and is now her best friend. she has appeared in wowowee and in the new gag show, banana split.

survivor philippines: episode 31 - 2 tribes merge, chalam tribe formed

after surviving 18 days in the island, naak and jarakay are tribes no more. at day 19, the two tribes gathered at the challenge area. thinking that there was a challenge, the two tribes were surprised whem paolo said "drop your buffs, magme-merge na tayo". the new tribe is named chalam, the thai word for shark. paolo then handed out new buffs that has the new tribe color, which is violet.

the 10 cast aways that made it to the merge are 4 jarakay members; marlon, charisse, vern and jace; and 6 naak members; kiko, jc,rob, cris, kaye and zita. a feast then followed after the announcement. the feast included mechado, kare kare, lechon kawali, ginataang hipon, alimasag, several fruits and cocktails. all of the cast aways ate a lot since it was their first taste of real food after 18 days (except for the 2 large fish that jarakay won in day 7 and the lechon that naak won in day 15).

all cast aways will then live in the original jarakay camp after the feast. they all agreed to go together to naak camp to get their things and then proceed to jarakay. its good to see the cast aways this happy. but some of them are still playing the game. its surprising that jace is the one making the move to get jc, but jc is staying firmly with naak.

from here on, its an individual fight for reward and immunity. its exciting to see if the numbers advantage of naak will continue or the strategy players in jarakay will prevail.

survivor philippines: 4 female cast offs now official kapuso stars

the four female cast offs (voted out cast aways) from survivor philippines are now the newest kapuso stars. as shown in the nightly news of gma 7, 24 oras, the four cast offs, chev macias, patani daño, vevherly gador and nikki dacullo signed their exclusive talent management contract with gma 7 yesterday. of the four, only patani has regular shows. she is currently part of unang hirit as its prinsesa ng palengke and eat bulaga.

watch out for the upcoming shows of these survivor cast offs in the future.

pinoy fear factor: lj moreno and phoemela barranda are in, participants announced

abs cbn confirmed yesterday via tv patrol world that viva artist lj moreno and the buzz segment host and model phoemela barranda are included in the 12 participants in the upcoming pinoy fear factor. here is the full story from www.abscbnnews.com:

"TV Patrol World "Star Patroller" Phoemela Barranda and Viva talent LJ Moreno are testing their mettle in ABS-CBN's "Pinoy Fear Factor" -- the country's scariest and most challenging reality show to date.

Laurenti Dyogi, the show’s business unit head, said Phoemela and LJ are just two of 12 "participantes" in the new reality show that pits seven males and five females in death-defying stunts in South America.

"We made right choices as proven by the participantes' involvement in the program and strength from their character and personality. They are very interesting to watch. Hindi kami nagkamali ng pagpili sa kanila. We are very happy with the selection and I think matutuwa din ang mga manonood sa mga ipinakita ng ating mga participantes,” Dyogi said.

The other participantes are:

Elmer – a veterinary
Jose – a culinary student
Manuel – a ‘balikbayan’ from Australia

Dyogi said the contestants had to travel for 36 hours from Manila to Argentina and adjust to the new country while taking on the "Fear Factor" challenges. He also revealed that some of the "participantes" were not very familiar with the show's format.

He said all the 12 participantes were insured as stated in Endemol contract. “Yes, they are insured. We cannot leave the country without medical insurance, hospital insurance, life insurance and travel insurance,” he said.

“Pinoy Fear Factor: South America” is an adaption of the “Fear Factor Extreme” format, which is different from US version where contestants compete in different challenges weekly. The show will run for 15 weeks with three stunts shown every week.

Dyogi said that in “Pinoy Fear Factor”, the participantes will be staying inside a boot camp called “El Campo Miedo” and compete against each other. Every week, one participant will bid goodbye until three contestants remain.

The last one standing will have the honor to be the first “El Ultimo Participante” and will receive a take home pay of P2 million and a house and lot from Avida of Ayala Land.

Dyogi said local viewers will definitely get hooked with the intense stunts and dares. He said some of the Filipino contestants actually broke “Fear Factor” existing records.

The Philippines is the 30th country to do a local version of “Fear Factor” in Argentina and the third country to use the “Fear Factor Extreme” format following South Africa and India."

pinoy fear factor: pilot episode on november 10

pinoy fear factor teasers in abs cbn now has a launch date. the show will start to air on november 10, 2008 with timeslot still unknown. the show will be hosted by ryan agoncillo and co hosted by canadian actress vanessa morgan and was shot entirely in argentina in south america. this is a local version of the us reality tv show from endemol, the same producer of big brother and deal or no deal.

rumors are spreading that there will be at least 2 celebrities in the show. the glam goddess is supposed to be model and host phoemela barranda, the segment host of the buzz and the star patroller of tv patrol world. the daredevil chick is said to be lj moreno, the niece of actress alma moreno. no confirmation is still available as of the moment.

shall we dance: gab valenciano & dance partner jasmin wins wildcard competition

gab valenciano and dance partner jasmin emerged victorius in the wildcard competition of tv 5's dance reality competition, shall we dance, the search for the next dance superstar. after being eliminated 2 weeks ago, they were asked to come back and perform again in the wild card competition for a slot in the finals.

their dance was personally choreograph by gab since this was a do or die for them. they competed against previously eliminated pairs of ex housemate saicy aguila and johnny amar, ex housemate mickey perz and raine tolentino and sexbomb cheche tolentino and partner dice. the competition was tough but it was the consistency and passion that gab & jasmin shown that made them advance to the finals.

they will compete with 2 couples that previously advanced to the finals, which are sexbomb jopay paguia and partner mark and streetboys member danilo barrios and partner stephanie. the 3 way showdown will air on sunday at 7pm at tv 5.

celebrity duets: carlene aguilar eliminated

after 10 weeks of elimination, the final three of the second season of celebrity duets philippines was known. and after all the performances, beauty queen carlene aguilar was the one eliminated just before the finale show.

the show started with a retro number from the remaining contenders. each of them then performed a duet. here was the night's duets in order of performance:

1. joey marquez with pekto nacua - "sexbomb"

2. bayani fernando with pinky marquez - "amor, amor, amor"

3. carlene aguilar with mocha - "lady marmalade"

4. jc buendia with franco laurel - "with a little help from my friends"

at the end of the night, the final three contenders that would advance to the final night was announced. the first one called to safety was bayani fernando. followed by jc buendia. it was down to joey marquez and carlene, with joey winning over carlene, booking an all-male final showdown.

carlene was the last female remaining in the contest. she performed duets with the likes of agot isidro, aicelle santos, rochelle pangilinan, duncan ramos, dulce, karylle, katrina halili, jay durias, maureen larazabal and mocha. she had more confidence now and has exhibited versatility, performing ballads, rock, pop song and even fast songs. lasting 10 weeks was definitely an achievement to this former mutya winner.

survivor philippines: why nikki lost

nikki dacullo definitely has the charms to be a survivor. survivor is a game of strategy, we all know that. and aligning with people is a must and being as friendly as charming as nikki would definitely be an advantage. being a call center agent, she sure has the capability to communicate well with others.

with this in mind, why did nikki lose the game?

first, nikki was tagged as the weakest link in jarakay. since patani's exit in the 3rd tribal council, nikki was tagged as such. she was the least impressive among the girls during challenges. going to the merge with the disadvantage in numbers, its important the winners in the next challenges would come from jarakay so they can have an advantage in bargaining. the tribe might have felt that their chances would be better if nikki would be the one to be eliminated.

second, she helps the least at camp. as shown in several episodes, she sleeps too much and has not been a big help at camp. being a call center agent must have taken a toll on her. her body clock must have not fully adjusted to the normal waking and sleeping hours. proving your worth to the tribe is a must in survivor, and i think she did not do this.

third, she was not a strategic player. with only 3 of them left in the girls alliance in jarakay, charisse and marlon definitely outwitted her. based on what was shown on tv, she strategizes with charisse and she follows what charisse says. she has not shown any attempt to stategize on her own and convince others to vote out this person.

fourth, her alliance was a failed one. she was with the girls alliance in jarakay, together with charisse, marlon, patani and nina. patani was eliminated in week 3. nina was out due to injury in week 4, leaving her, charisse and marlon. with them having the numbers advantage (only 2 are left in the muscle tribe, jace and vern since marlon was vocal that he is with the girl), they must have voted for vern. but they did not and she trusted the two very much that she did not knew that the two were voting her out, together with the 2 other tribe members.

fifth, she has been experiencing homesickness. it was shown on the show that she has been moody at times and she had cried several times since she has been missing home so much. she has been wanting to go home several times and had express her feelings that it would be okay if she is the one to be voted off. this might have made the choice of the other tribemates easier. why would i vote out another person who wants to stay if someone feels okay if she goes home?

if i were to choose the main reason on why nikki lost, it would be her being the weakest link of the tribe. she needed to prove her worth in the tribe to stay and she failed miserably.

but some one like her would be ideal to get through to the merge. first because she has the charms to get new alliances. second, she is weak and can easily lose challenges. and third, she has been cruising throuh the game and is not playing strategy; making her a very easy player to sacrifice in the end. maybe the other tribe members did not consider this, and its maybe their loss in the end.

survivor philippines: jarakay votes off nikki

on its sixth week, survivor philippines has eliminated its eight cast away. after losing its 4th straight challenge, jarakay decided to vote off nikki, tagged as the call center beauty during the 6th tribal council in the island while naak is watching at the sidelines. the vote of the tribe was unanimous, 4-1. all of the other tribe members voted for her while her vote went to vern.

nikki lasted 18 days on the island and has been one of the eye candies in the show. she has been tagged as jarakay's weakest link and escaped elimination last week when the tribe decided to vote off john instead, due to his dwindling health. she was part of the girls alliance in jarakay, together with charisse, marlon, patani and nina.

nikki also became close to kaye of naak during the time that naak was still made up of all the female cast aways. when paolo announced that nikki was going home, kaye was shown crying. she accepted the decision of the tribe very lightly based on her exit interview after the tribal council.

with nikki gone, naak definitely has the numbers with the merge coming next week, as shown in the preview shown after the show. it will be exciting to see how the jarakay members prove their worth to stay in the game and try to get the trust of some of naak's tribe members.

amazing race asia 3: geoff & tisha checks in first in leg 7

after 7 legs, team philippines finally placed first in the third season of the amazing race asia. team philippines is composed of dating couple geoff rodriguez and tisha silang.

the 7th leg of the race started in hongkong where they were instructed to deliver 2 fish each to a pet store. but due to hours of operations of the store (which starts at 11am), almost all the teams caught up with sam & vince. they were next instructed to go to macau via ferry. sam & vince, having the hometown advantage, walked to the pier and caught up with the earliest ferry. the next 3 teams were supposed to board the same ferry but geoff & tisha were able to convince someone to trade them their tickets. so geoff & tisha boarded ferry ahead of the others.

upon arriving at macau, they were instructed to board a pedicab and go to the fountain in senado square. upon arriving there, they were instructed to go to the macau tower, with a yield ahead. at macau tower, they encounter the yield and a roadblock. sam & vince decided not to use it. geoff & tisha, who arrived 2nd at the tower, decided to yield henry & bernie.

at the roadblock, one of the team members needs to climb the tower where they would receive the next clue. the ones that did the roadblock were vince, geoff, fuzzie, bernie and ida. when henry 7 bernie arrived at the tower, they completely ignored geoff & tisha who yielded them. they were next instructed to go to the dragon boat pier at sai van lake. they need to row a dragon boat along the course, turn on a buoy and return to the pier where they will receive the next clue.

they then encountered a detour, which is a choice between dance or chance. in dance, teams must perform a traditional dragon dance perfectly. in chance, team would play black jack and win against the dealer nine times before they received the next clue. only geoff and tisha choose dance and it proved to be beneficial since they finished ahead of sam & vince.

they were then instructed to proceed to a-ma cultural village to retrieve their next clue. it was also the pit stop of the race but before they could proceed, they need to arrange 12 lanterns with the symbols of the chinese zodiac in its chronological order with the help of several clues. if they think they got the order, they would step on a red mat and if they got it, the doors of the village would open.

geoff & tisha had a hard time and sam & vince caught up. but they eventually got it and checked in at the pit stop first. by winning the leg, they won a 40 inch bravia tv and a play station 3 game console each. the final rankings are as follows:

1st - geoff & tisha (philippines)

2nd - sam & vince (hong kong)

3rd - ad & fuzzie (singapore)

4th - henry & bernie (malaysia)

5th - ida & tania (malaysia)

ida & tania was in last place again and was once again saved. this was a pre-determined non-elimination leg. their money was not surrendered to allan but they need to check in first in the next leg or they will get a 30 minute penalty.

survivor philippines: naak wins week 6 immunity challenge

survivor philippines' week 6 immunity challenge was the same challenge used as the reward challenge for episode 2 of survivor vanuatu and episode 4 of survivor fiji. unfortunately, i did not get any pictures from survivor vanuatu. but here are some pictures from survivor fiji (pics taken from survivor phoenix and from the official cbs website):

the challenge starts with the palyers lined up in a narrow plank. the last person needs to cross the plank up to the other end, passing through each other tribe member. they are not allowed to sit or stoop down. if they fall, the one who is crossing the plank would start all over. but if only the other cast away falls, he then goes to the end of the line. first tribe to have all 5 members in the center platform wins immunity.

since naak has one extra member, kaye will sit out this challenge. naak has a clear advantage on this challenge since they are thinner and smaller. jc was the first to cross for naak and veronica for jarakay. jc fell into the water with cris so they had to start again. jc then had an easy time crossing the plank and passing through his tribemates. he finished with vern only through nikki. vern then needs to cross charisse who eventually fell into the water. next was marlon, whose girth was no help in the challenge and eventually jumped into the water.

on the other tribe, it was kiko's turn to traverse the plank. he had an easy time until he reached cris. they eventually fell into the water and kiko started over again. the second try was successful and naak never looked back and finished ahead of jarakay. no one from jarakay finished the challenge.

this is naak's 5th win, 4 challenges in a row. they would definitely gain the upperhand during the merge, since they have the numbers 6 - 4. on the other hand, jarakay needs to vote out another member. will this be another surprise vote with one of the stronger members getting the boot since the merge is coming? or will they vote out the weakest link that is not helping them in camp and in challenges? we will see in tonight's episode of survivor philippines.

survivor philippines: naak wins week 6 reward challenge

survivor philippines' week 6 reward challenge was the same reward challenge used in survivor cook island episode 13. see screen caps below:



the challenge is played by 5 members per tribe, one would act as the collector. one by one, each of the four other tribe members would get into a mud pit and collect as many mud as possible. the collector would then put the mud in a pail. first team to fill 5 pails of mud wins immunity.

the challenge started neck to neck but after the 2nd pail, naak had a slight advantage. the lead was slowly gained by naak and they never looked back. final score is 5- 3. reward is a complete bath, with shampoo, soap, conditioner, toothbrush and deodorants but it should be used only in the make shift bathrooms in the challenge area.

this is naak's first 3-in-a-row victory. is this a sign of naak's dominance in the challenge and eventually being a majority in the merge? or will this be a wake up call for jarakay that will lead them to win the immunity challenge?

survivor philippines: why john lost

john lopez was tagged as "ang mekaniko" in survivor philippines. as a mechanic and a part time model, he has a great body that would definitely make him last long in the island. he helped his tribe in winning challenges. he has the charms to win everybody's heart. he has an alliance and has been a main player on saying who they would vote off. but surprisingly, he was the 7th person eliminated from the island and did not even made it to the merge.

so why did john lost?

first, his health condition is a big factor in the tribe decision. he has been pulled out of the game in day 8 because his potassium level went down. he was rushed to the hospital and was given 24 hours to be able to come back and continue the game. luckily, ha was able to come back after staying overnight in the hospital. his condition has been in question since then and he also expressed concern about his health over the last few days before the tribal council.

second, he is a big physical threat. obviously, he is strong. he has the body to show and the challenges to prove this. when it comes to the merge, he would definitely be a force to reckon with if the immunity and reward challenges would be physical challenges. this would be a perfect time to eliminate him since it would be easier for him to accept it because there is still an issue regarding his health.

third, he is also a strategic threat. he was one of the first jarakay members to make a strategic move and form an alliance. he first got jace and formed the muscle tribe, which includes jace, vern, gigit and marlon. since then, he was the one orchestratrating their strategy and has been voicing out his opinions on who should go next. a strategic player is a big threat in survivor, and that is what john is.

fourth, he formed a failed alliance and still stick with it. on the first tribal council, it was one of the muscle alliance members who was voted off, gigit. this is only a proof that their alliance is not that strong. and they still don't have the numbers. he did not see clearly how marlon is playing the game. this is mainly due to the double elimination that evened out the alliances in jarakay. but having one of your alliances voted out on the first tribal council should have been a wake up call for him that someone is playing them and their alliance should be stronger.

fifth, he knew he was going but he did not fight for his place enough to make him stay. his tribe already expressed their plan to vote him off. he knew it. charisse was even saying sorry for voting him during their last tribal council. these are clear signs that you are going home. but he did not negotiate hard for the tribe to vote for nikki instead. he waited for them to realize that he is worth more than nikki, and it did not materialized. i don't know if it was not shown but based on the episode last friday, that is my impression.

if i would have to choose the main reason for his loss, it would definitely be health reason and his failed alliance. he is definitely an asset to the tribe but he was not able to adapt to the conditions of the game, both physically and strategically.

survivor philippines: john lopez voted off the island

after the first back to back loss of jarakay tribe, the tribe decided to vote out one of its stronger players. john lopez, an automechanic and a model was the 7th person voted out of survivor philippines. john is the 4th person eliminated from the jarakay tribe, after gigit, patani, and nina, who was eliminated dur to injury.

john, who hails from bicol is part of the muscle alliance in jarakay, together with vern, jace and marlon. gigit was also part of the alliance before he was voted off. john was previously pulled out of the game and was rushed to the hospital in day 8 of the game due to the low potassium level in his body. he later returned to the game with in the 24 hour limit. john lasted 15 days in the island.

what's interesting to see is how jarakay would adapt now that they would be outnumbered by naak for the first time in the game. also interesting to see s would their move to sacrifice one of their stronger players pay off for them to win challenges? one more week before the anticipated merge, winning this week would definitely be an advantage.

project runway philippines: eli gonzales is the fan favorite

after months of voting, the fans have decided. eli gonzales is the very first fan favorite of project runway philippines. the result was announced in the reunion show of the show. eli is a teacher who hails from san pedro, laguna. he has his moments in the show, famous for his tight fitting shirts, star tattoos and making fun while working. he had several fights in the show and has been the most outspoken and frank among the contestants.

next week's episode will be a recap of the season with the final runway show at the philippine fashion week probably airing 2 weeks from now. the final three designers are veejay, aris and philip. most of the eliminated designers choose philip as their winner during the reunion show.

survivor philippines: naak wins week 5 immunity challenge

survivor philippines' fifth immunity challenge was the same challenge used as the immunity challenge in episode 3 of survivor palau. please see screencaps below:

it was also used as the immunity challenge in episode 2 of survivor cook islands:

the challenge involves 6 cast aways per tribe, each person carrying a bag at 10 pounds each. each tribe would start at opposite ends of the round playing field. they would traverse the perimeter of the round fence. when a tribe gets to the last person of the other tribe, that member would be out of the game. she would pass her bag to the other member of the tribe and goto an enclosure in the middle of the playing field. the tribe that could eliminate all the other tribe's member will win immunity.

at the start of the challenge, it was evident that it was nikki who is jarakay's weakest link and it was kaye in naak. jarakay decided to let go of nikki and nikki was out of the race. they also let go of charisse in the next round. what they did not realize was that the weight gets heavier everytime a cast away is out of the game, which eventually slowed jarakay down. naak never lost its advantage and eventually won the challenge, winning it by a sweep: 6-0.

this is naak's 2nd win out of 5 immunity challenge. this is the first back to back challenge won by naak, after winning the reward challenge last monday. on the other hand, this is jarakay's first back to back loss and they will go to tribal council on friday to eliminate another member. this would be the first time that naak would have the advantage in terms of numbers.

survivor philippines: naak wins week 5 reward challenge

survivor philippines' week 5 reward challenge was a modified version of the reward challenge used in the second episode of survivor micronesia fan versus favorites, see scrrenshots below (images lifted from http://resources.survivorphoenix.com/ )





this was also used as the immunity challenge in episode 7 of survivor cook islands:



the challenge involves 6 cast aways per tribe, 5 would recover keys and 1 would be the puzzle solver. One by one, each of the 5 cast aways would gat a club, swim to the platform and get on the platform. once there, they would hit a skull with a club where a key is hidden. they would then dive into the water, retrieve the key and swim back. once the key is hanged on a pole, the next team member would swim out until all 6 keys are retrieved.



once all keys are on the pole, the puzzle solver will get the keys and open a trunk that contains the puzzle pieces. the first tribe to solve the puzzle wins reward. reward for this challenge is a feast containing 2 lechon de leche.


the solvers were kaye for naak and nikki for jarakay. the game was head to head during the start of the challenge until the third person. marlon hit the skull the wrong way and the key went to the deeper part of the water. he then asked for help which incurred them a 3 minute penalty. naak never looked back and eventually won the reward, winning their 2nd challenge in the series.



the reward was just in time for cris' birthday. and there is a twist, jarakay would watch them while they were eating the reward and a time limit of 30 minutes was imposed.

celebrity duets: phil younghusband eliminated

british filipino soccer player phil younghusband became the 4th contestant to be eliminated in the 2nd season of the philippine version of celebrity duets. phil lasted 8 weeks in the competition and has sang duets with aicelle santos, jay-r, maricris garcia, nyoy volante, sheree, hayden kho and eula valdes.

in his last performance, he partnered with jolina magdangal for their rendition of david cook's "always be my baby". this performance got mostly negative reviews from the judges, coming from a good performance last week. when host ogie alcaqsid announced that it was his last performance, phil was very emotional and even cried. he said he only sang when he joined duets, and he never sang before.

only 4 celebrities remain in the competition, bayani fernando, joey marquez, carlene aguilar and jc buendia. next week will again be a non-elimination week and after that, we will know the top 3 celebrities that would perform in the finals.

survivor philippines: why vevherly lost

vevherly gador is a farmer's daughter and is currently a fourth year criminology student. she is very determined, strong willed and brave. she has been through a lot in her life, having been in a broken family and both her parents having separate families. bringing all her life experiences into the game, she can definitely be a survivor. so why did vevh lost?

first, vevherly is simply unimpressive in challenges. as compared to the other naak girls left in the game, zita and kaye has definitely shown their worth in challenges. remember how kaye managed to stay in the coconut basketball challenge, even outlasting kiko? and zita has been very consistent in challenges. if it comes down to physical strength, vevh would definitely be an easy target.

second, she does not have a clear alliance. during the first 2 weeks, i thought that vevh is a part of the boys alliance in naak. she was with them when they voted for against chev and emerson. all the while, i thought only zita was out of the alliance, simply because she was not informed that the tribe would vote out emerson during the second tribal council. i was surprised last monday to find that she was also not part of the alliance.

third, she was not a strategic player. she goes with the flow and for the past weeks, she has not made a move or convinced the tribe of her worth. she has not made used of her relationship with her tribemates to join the alliance that was already existing in the tribe.

fourth, she was very emotional. her emotions seem to get the better of her most of the times. remember that during the thai pillow challenge, she simply stopped when she and emer had an arguement. she could have been of use if she continued and just ignored emer and confronted him after the challenge.

fifth, her injury made her very vulnerable. she injured her foot in the last immunity challenge when she was pushing the ball against veronica. she was limping on their way to tribal council. she had fever the night before. this gave the tribe another reason to vote her out.

lastly, she did not fight for her place in the tribe, she just gave up when she knew she was the next to go. she did not talk to any of the boys to convince them that she sould stay. she talked with kaye but we all know that it is the boys who are making the call in naak. she cried and simply gave up.

if i would choose the main reason why vevh was voted off, i think it would be mainly due to lack of alliance and her unimpressive showing in challenges. vevh did well in the game, she played it with integrity and she showed how strong willed she is. but she needs to learn a lot in survival, beacuase she seems to come in the game very much unprepared.

survivor philippines: vevherly eliminated

vevherly gador became the 6th person out of the reality show survivor philippines. in their 3rd time at the council, naak was forced to oust their 3rd member while the other tribe, jarakay, was observing the tribal council. final tally of votes was 5-1; with rob getting vevherly's vote. kiko gained immunity and was not allowed to vote because jarakay abducted him as part of the reward challenge.

vevherly, the farmer's daughter hails from cebu. she is currently in her 4th year in college, taking up criminology. she lasted 12 days on the island before being voted off.

survivor philippinesz: who will be the next cast away to be voted off?

this would be short and sweet.

kiko is immune because he was kidnapped by jarakay and would not vote. he is safe.

the boys has a strong alliance. most probably, they would stick with each other. i think jc, rob and cris would be safe tonight.

kaye is also aligned with the boys. she would be safe tonight.

it's down to zita and vhev. in the intro video, zita is shown in one of the challenges that we have not seen. see screen cap below:

or is this the week 1 challenge? but i think it is a different challenge.

with this i think vhev would have a 80% chance of being voted off, zita with 10% and jc with 10% (due to his injury).

but i am picking vhev to be going home tonight.

survivor philippines: jarakay wins 4th immunity challenge

the challenge involved 4 balls being lowered to a mud pit playing area. the object is to push the huge balls to the team's goal. you can prevent or stop the other team by holding their waist or push the ball away from the goal. first round was 3 girls vs 3 girls. for jarakay, it was vhev, zita and kaye and for jarakay it was vern, nikki and charisse. it was a close fight but naak got to the goal first. naak leads 1-0.

second round was 3 boys vs 3 boys. for naak, it was cris, rob and jc. for jarakay, it was marlon, john and jace. the jarakay boys got a strategy and proved to be better, putting their ball in their goal first. game tied at 1-1.

the last round will have 2 girls and 1 boy. they have to get 2 balls across their goals. for jarakay, it was jace, vern and charisse. for naak, it was zita, rob and vhev. the teams got neck to neck but jace proved to be stronger than rob, scoring the first goal for jarakay. the naak girls made their move and inched closer to their goal. zita scored next for naak, making the game tied at 1 goal a piece. rob made a wrong move and switched from defense to offense, letting jace alone. jace then scored the goal. jarakay wins 2-1.

during the game, marlon also got into a verbal fight with rob. there is also a twist that would be revealed in the next episode.

survivor philippines: jarakay's niña pulled out due to injury

maria nona "nina" ortiz became the 5th person out of the survivor philippines. after hurting her toe during the reward challenge, niña was pulled out from the game and was treated in a local hospital. the x rays showed that one of her toe bone was broken. it needed to be cast and cannot be wet. due to the nature of the challenges where swimming and physical exertion is needed, niña decided to call it quits.

niña bid farewell to cast aways just before the start of the immunity challenge. everyone was emotional, epecially zita whom niña has bonded during the first days when naak were still all females.

niña lasted 11 days in the island and was part of the girl's alliance in jarakay.
